Intinerary

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh - Cai Be - My Tho - Ben Tre

You commence at 8:00 am with a 2-hour transfer to Cai Lay, a rural district where you’ll cycle on quiet back roads, passing through vibrant villages, fruit orchards, and water channels. You’ll stop along the routes and taste exotic seasonal fruits at small markets or fruit orchards. Then resume cycling on well-maintained paths along the creeks, passing primary schools, and visiting local homes to see how people make sweets and snacks. Take a photo of the Cai Be Catholic Church, built in 1929, facing the Cai Be floating market. Then cyc some more km to Ba Kiet, the ancient house where your lunch is well-arranged. Mr. Kiet house was located in Cai Be District and was built approximately in 1838. Only the house’s central architecture remained after more than 150 years. In 2002, a Japanese association, JICA, funded more than 1.8 billion for repairing the home and sent a Japanese architect to this house to monitor the work for more than 6 months. Hence, the entire architecture and decorations of the traditional house was restored, similar to its original design.

Following lunch, resume cycling on pathways through idyllic villages to Cai Be Riverside, where you share spaces on the local ferry to Tan Phong Island. Explore the life of locals on the island where tropical fruit have been growing for decades. The second ferry boat will take you to Ngu Hiep Island, famous for its durian fruits. Here is a chance you can taste smelly fruit called by Westerners. Pedal on smooth paths along the Mekong River, enjoy views and see cargo and sampan boats moving from different directions. You’ll escape Ngu Hiep Island by the last ferry boat to Tam Binh market, where you hop on the support vehicle for a short transfer to My Tho City. Board a boat with luggage, cross the river to Thoi Son Island. Overnight in a local homestay.

Day 2: Thoi Son Island, Ben Tre - My Tho - Long An - Saigon

Wake up fresh in the morning, enjoy breakfast at the homestay, and prepare for the amazing ride. You’ll ride to a loop on the island and learn more about local culture and lifestyle. You can interact with locals along the villages before you check out and have a short transfer to My Tho. Pick up the bikes and cycle toward Ben Luc District, Long An province. Your guide will lead you to ride at your own pace and enjoy a glimpse of life inside the Mekong Delta’s rice bowl of Vietnam, fertile green terrain, and plaine. Ride across the green vegetation fields of pennywort, Culantro Seeds, coriander, mint leaves, etc. Resume cycling through corn and watermelon fields before you ride deeper into the vast rice paddy fields. You will immerse yourself in stunning scenery and rustic villages. Stop at a small market in the countryside, taste Vietnamese coffee and fresh fruits, then cross Vam Co Tay river by ferry boat and resume the ride to Ben Luc, where you end up cycling trip. Have a transfer to Saigon.
