This is a feature bike trip to the Mekong Delta, and you will experience a night at a local home. You will immerse yourself in the family culture and how the family arranges everything during your stay—tasty meals cooked with firewood without modern kitchen cabinets. Join the family to cook your dinner and taste how delicious the meal you cooked!
Intinerary
Depart at 8:00 am from your hotel, and we will travel on a shuttle to My Tho. On arrival by the Mekong River, we pick up the bike, adjust the saddle, and take a ferry to the islands, experiencing the life of locals. Visit one of the oldest houses with traditional Vietnamese design. Enjoy seasonal tropical fruits and meet friendly people in the villages. Have delicious lunch at a family-run small business. After lunch, the boat continues its journey, cross the Mekong River to An Binh Island. Watch the vibrant waterway with several boats travel through and experience the local life along Dong Phu canals.

After breakfast, say goodbye to your host and begins the day from the homestay. We ride on a quiet back road through Binh Hoa Phuoc village and stop at small local markets before we escape the island. Wave “hello” to kids when we cycle past kindergarten and primary schools. Visit some fruit orchards, and follow the paths along the Mekong River to Cho Lach. Enjoy riding through lush fields and crossing numerous wooden bridges to Cai Mon, well-known for its nursery and bonsai gardens. In the afternoon, we’ll have countless photo opportunities and view the beautiful countryside landscapes riding on a zig-zag of pathways through water palms and coconut plantations. We’ll finish the day after a ferry crossing Co Chien River to Tra Vinh.

Before the day commences, we visit Ang Temple- called in the Khmer language Angkorajaborey, one of the oldest, beautiful Khmer temples in Tra Vinh, where much of the area is populated by Khmer people. Afterward, we’ll cycle along peaceful paths across the vast rice paddy fields, meet friendly Khmer at their homes, enjoy authentic scenery, and cycle as much as we ride onto the Khmer community where locals live mainly on cultivating. See the vast expanses of rice fields, and with some luck, observe the farmers harvesting their crops. Break for lunch in a small town, and resume the day after 1-hour transfer to Tra On, where we enjoy some ferry crossings and ride along the Mekong River. We’ll immediately feel the vibrancy from the ships transporting goods and small, long-tailed engine boats going up and down on the rivers. We’ll taste some fresh pomelo fruits from local orchards before we end today’s ride for a short transfer to Can Tho.

Depart early for a motorboat ride to the bustling Cai Rang floating market, where hundreds of boats come to sell and buy fresh produce and commodities. Then we ride on narrow paths, absorbing the sights of endless cottage industries and timber merchants to Phong Dien. Break for coffee and fruits at small markets, and chat with locals before we resume the last section by cycling on winding paths along creeks and rivers as we explore the backwaters of Phong Dien to Binh Thuy-a Rural District. Lunch en route in Can Tho then we return to Ho Chi Minh by vehicles.
