Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay, located in Quang Ninh Province, is one of Vietnam’s most iconic travel destinations and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Famed for its surreal seascape, the bay features hundreds of limestone karsts and islets rising dramatically from emerald waters, forming a maze of towering pillars and hidden coves.

The name Ha Long translates to “Descending Dragon” in Vietnamese, a nod to the local legend that a family of dragons descended from the heavens to defend the land from invaders. As the dragons swept down, they scattered jewels across the bay, which transformed into the islands and islets we see today. This mythical origin feels perfectly in tune with the bay’s ethereal beauty — a place where nature and legend intertwine.

Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s most iconic destinations, features over 3,000 limestone islands scattered across clear, emerald waters. Just off the northern coast, it’s easily reached from Hanoi—either by a three-hour drive or a scenic seaplane flight that includes a breathtaking 15-minute aerial tour of the bay. Visitors can choose a day cruise with the option of returning to Hanoi or staying overnight in nearby Haiphong. For a more immersive experience, spend one or two nights aboard a traditional junk boat, sailing through dramatic rock formations, swimming, fishing, or simply soaking in the serene beauty as the bay glides by. With a wide range of cruise options to suit every style and budget, there’s a perfect way for everyone to experience the magic of Halong Bay.
